Comparison of required investment
The AIR system requires substantially less investments than competing technologies.
-
A similar side calculation yields that the required investments to roll- out an AIR system are substantially lower than the required investments to roll-out similar networks
Key assumptions are:
- coverage of an area with 20,000 households within 24 months in an area of 700 square kilometers and 50% consumer take- up after 36 months and a monthly churn rate of 0.5%
- for FTTN we have included a media gateway, DSLAM chassis and ports, external power, switches and routers, video middle ware, home gateway and set-top-box costs into our calculation
To roll-out an AIR network costs only on average 350 Euro per subscriber, substantially less what is needed for competing technologies
