Target markets
The AIR system is well suited for developed and for less developed telecommunications markets.
- Developed Markets
AIR is ideal for operators in developed telecommunications markets which already have several fixed and wireless access networks in place
- as the AIR system can be used as a complementary access network. AIR can for example be used to expand the geographic reach of existing DSL infrastructure or cable networks
- or as the AIR system can be used as an overlay network aimed at enabling operators to offer Triple Play solutions, e.g. to existing cable TV clients or to existing fixed-network clients
The AIR system features are particularily apt for developed telecoms markets
- the digital signal offers the same TV and RA quality as other TV platforms (cable, satellite, DVB-T, IP TV) and is ready to transmit high definition TV
- to roll-out the system requires practically no civil works nor built permits
AIR is ideal for operators in less developed telecommunications markets
- as the AIR system can be used to rapidly and economically roll- out a network that can cover vast areas
- and as AIR has system features which are particularily apt for developing countries
- as a wireless system, there is no cable cut danger
- the base stations are less exposed to climatic conditions than other systems
- the base stations can be independent from power grids via solar cells
